SportsLinc caught up with local boxer Nathan Decastro and his dad down at Bracebridge Boxing Club last night. This is what they had to say about Nathan’s forthcoming fight against Emmanual Clottey at the Arena, Grantham on Saturday week.

Nathan: “I am feeling really good. Sparring has gone well and I am in the best shape of my life.

“I am tapering down training a little after 10-12 weeks of hard training.

” I am really pleased with the way things are going. I am now stepping down and sharpening up.”

Father Frank said: “He is in the best ever shape I have seen him. His power is phenomenal and he is a frightening prospect when he is in the ring.

“Nathan is totally dedicated and in fact you will not find a better athlete.

“If you want a prediction I say the fight will be stopped in Nathan’s favour in the fourth or fifth round.

“His opponent is a puncher himself and is no mug.

“It’s going to be an interesting and exciting fight.”

You can hear the interview in full on Mix and Match on Siren 107.3 FM or between 7-9 pm this evening with Peter Hayward.

Ticket sales are going well with up to 200 supporters cheering on their local hero.

Tickets are still available from Bracebridge Boxing Club or via Nathan on Facebook.
