The local derby between Scothern and Cherry Willingham fell victim to the great British summer weather on Saturday after the heavens opened and the umpires had no choice but to abandon the match.

There was a repeat performance of this at Hartsholme between the Ashby Avenue outfit and visitors Caistor.

However one match that did manage to escape the downpours was at Barton where the hosts beat Bracebridge Heath by 42 runs.

Barton hit 152 whereas visitors Bracebridge could manage only 110 despite the sterling efforts of Harry Smith and Alex Moor.

As a result of the disjointed weekend the ECB Premier league is looking increasingly tight.

Leaders Alford are only five points clear of Messingham who have a game in hand.

Scothern and Cherry Willingham sit in third and fourth place respectively ready to narrow the eight point gap behind the leaders.
