Lincoln-born boxer Nathan Decastro believes he is in the  best shape of his life as he prepares to take on former IBA World Champion Emmanuel Clottey for the vacant MC International Title at the Arena UK  Grantham on Saturday July 2nd.

Decastro has been training hard at the Bracebridge Boxing Club under the watchful eye of his father and trainer, Frank and his conditioning coach Sam Vickers.

He said: “Training has been going really well. It has been the best ever training camp of my career.

“We have made a few changes and they seemed to have worked. The best thing we have done is adding to my strength.

“My conditioning coach Sam Vickers has been really pushing me forward as an athlete.

“I enjoy training with the lads down at the club and we all push each other on. We even have a laugh sometimes!

” I have got to say a big thank you to Denny Oliver down there for his continued support not only for me but also for all the amateurs at the club.

” My main trainer is my dad and he has watched videos of Clottey.

“We have a game plan worked out for the fight and I trust him. He’s great at reading a fight and working out a way to win.

” I feel I’m hitting my prime now and needed a big test like this to show how good I actually am.

” My other fights I’ve breezed through no problem.”

Last week Decastro received a massive boost when Amir Khan sent him a personal good luck message with the promise that the former Olympian will be supporting the Bracebridge boxing club star at the ringside.

Decastro added: “Amir Khan is a real superstar in the world of boxing.”

The young fighter also had a special word of thanks to his many supporters.

He said: “I have to thank my sponsors Lindum Fire Service Ltd, The Electric Company, SMT2U and Tudor Building and Roofing.

“A special thanks must go to my girlfriend Lucy for supporting me and always being there.”

Tickets for the big night on 2nd July have been selling well and only standard £30 seats are now available and can be bought by contacting Decastro through his Facebook page.

Everyone at SportsLinc wishes Nathan the very best and is ready to hail the return of a champion!
