Three years ago Alice Carter and her colleague Dan Carter (no relation) introduced free football coaching at the Aboretum on Monks Road for youngsters aged four to seven years and during that time she has seen her charges make new friends and understand the importance of teamwork.
Twenty-four-year-old Alice works full time at Lincoln College as a Project Officer but volunteers her time each Saturday morning between 1030 am to midday to teach up to 15 children the basic skills of the beautiful game and also how to co-operate with each other.
Parent Ed Gaynor whose seven-year-old son James turns out in his Liverpool kit every Saturday said: “Alice does an extremely good job.
“The children have lots of fun. It’s good exercise for them and they are able to see their friends every week.”
