The Eastgate 1st team from uphill Lincoln have been crowned Notts Premier League champions for the first time.
The objective at the start of the season for the Lincoln outfit was to avoid relegation from a division which boasts some of the county’s top players.
Captain Chris Martin said: ” We have gelled together well and won some matches against the top teams.
” To put the achievement into context our club is made up entirely of local Lincolnshire amateur talent whereas some teams have professional players in their ranks.”
There was further good news for Eastgate as they ran out 4-1 winners over Division One champions Deans College in the final of the league cup at the weekend.
This week the Eastgate club is hosting the Lincolnshire Squash Handicap Trophy when 50 competitors will be fighting it for the honour of being crowned Trophy Champion.
