Dave Frecklington believes that after three years in charge at Ashby Avenue now is the time to move on and let someone else take over.
During his tenure, Frecklington rebuilt a squad and brought a new brand of attacking football to the Sun Hat Villas stadium.
Attendances doubled as his team reached the dizzy heights of fifth spot in the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League last month and were denied a place in the final of the play-offs by Shaw Lane Aquaforce.
Frecklington told SportsLinc: “Three years is a long time at one club. I have laid the foundations for someone else to take over.
“I have learned a lot as a manager and have tended to calm down a bit. In the first season I was very animated and kicked every ball.
“But as a young manager you learn how to handle yourself at this level in the public eye especially in your home town.
“I have always been a winner and done what I think is right.
“I believe that success is brought about by hard work and building team spirit.
And as for the future?
Frecklington added: “I have had a couple of offers and will sit down and see where I want to go.
“Half of me wants a new challenge and the other half of me wants to take a break.”
Whatever the decision he makes, many people recognize that Frecklington has brought life and energy back to the local football scene in Lincoln.
Whatever Frecklington decides to do SportsLinc wishes him all the very best and hopes he returns to the game very soon.
