Lincolnshire FA’s under -18 representative football team faced West Riding in the Northern Counties Youth League play-off semi-final at Bottesford Town yesterday.
The county side have already enjoyed their most successful season for sometime by finishing Division Two champions but were unable to make many inroads into a strong West Riding defence in yesterday’s match.
The Lincolnshire outfit took some time to get going and went behind after 20 minutes when the opposition striker stabbed home past Zak Beedle to make it 1-0.
Six minutes later the West Riding left winger broke free and chipped in to double the score.
In the 70th minute the Lincolnshire lads went further behind following a 30 yard free kick.
That seemed to spark the home side into action and two goals in the 82nd and 88th minute made extra time look a distinct possibility.
However despite constant Lincolnshire pressure the team from West Riding managed to hold on to their 3-2 lead.
