Sailing opportunities for people with disabilities in and around Lincolnshire have received a huge boost thanks to a £10,000 Sport England grant award.

Hykeham Sailability, based at Hykeham Sailing Club on Apex Lake successfully applied for the grant to build the pontoon which allows people who are wheelchair-bound to discover sailing.

Kevin Roberts, Hykeham Sailability Chairman told SportsLinc: “We now have a pontoon with two hoists which allows people with disabilities to take part in this wonderful sport.

“In fact this afternoon we have someone who suffers from MS to sail from it.”

The club is looking for more volunteers to help out at the Apex Lake each Friday.
