Pop down to Manor Park Sports Club in Welton around 11 o’clock every Thursday morning and you will see a group of men reliving their youth as they take part in the fastest growing sport in the area, walking football.
This morning we played eight-a-side on the 3G pitch in the warm sun. In the main we all managed not to break out into a trot and used all our experience to keep the ball below head height.
These are the two big differences between ‘normal’ football and the walking version of the game.
Not only does it provide a decent amount of exercise but there is also the opportunity to socialise in the pub afterwards and chat about the five chances you missed earlier!
Just turn up on the day if you would like to join in. Full details email firstname.lastname@example.org
