The Whites went down 1-0 to Stamford on Saturday in a game that should have resulted in a draw. Here are the thoughts of boss Big Sam Wilkinson.
“I am obviously disappointed with the loss.
“We had our best spell in the second half but they scored on the break which was a bit disappointing.
“The first half was pretty even for the first 25 minutes. I thought we had a couple of half chances, I thought they had a couple of half chances.
“I thought they were the better side going into half-time.
“We had to defend well, which we did do. It was more pressure from them though they didn’t really open us up.
“I was pleased with how we kept it tight.
“We just couldn’t find the goal in the second half.
“We were really naïve with their goal. We had a warning a minute before. It was a shocking goal. That was ultimately the difference.
“We contributed massively to their goal.
“We created enough opportunities to score but you’ve got to give credit to Stamford.
“Their keeper made a couple of good saves, they defended their box pretty well and they certainly secured the midfield better than we did.
“It was a good game but it was Stamford who kept a clean sheet.
“I am happy with the level of performance and if we play like that we will win more than we lose.”
