The Thoughts of Big Sam after win over Corby Town

This is what Whites’ boss, Big Sam Wilkinson had to say after his team beat Corby Town FC 3-2 in a game that required quality, grit and determination.

He said: “I am obviously delighted with the three points and really pleased with our overall play.

It wasn’t about coming here to be pretty, it was more about grit and determination.

We stuck our chances away in the first half with a great goal from Matt Cotton, who I thought was exceptional.

We looked a proper, big physical side today. We should have won 3-0 but that’s the only slight disappointment.

We defended really well and I didn’t think they opened us up that much.

They thought they would hurt us by putting balls in the box from set-pieces.

It all fell into place today. They all worked harder, including Matt Cotton who tackled back, did all the horrible stuff and scored.

I was also really pleased with the performance of Phil McGann.

His attitude is as good as any of the lads and I am delighted for him as well as for everyone else.

We have another tough away game at Newcastle on Saturday but we have a decent record there in all fairness.

We will look to go there, be really solid and hopefully come back with the points.”
