The Thoughts of Big Sam after Sheffield Defeat

This is what Whites boss, Big Sam Wilkinson had to say after his team’s 3-2 defeat at Sheffield FC which sent United down to 12th place in the League.

I am obviously disappointed with the result and not happy with the second half performance, especially the 30 minutes after half-time.

During that spell we were second best all over the pitch and that was the key to our defeat.

We couldn’t weather the storm.

We didn’t win enough first or second balls and didn’t do the basics well enough and ultimately paid the price for that.

I don’t know what Lincoln United is going to turn up lately.

There is no consistency at all.

We’ve gone from our best performance on Saturday against Kidsgrove to that shocking 30 minutes after half-time against Sheffield FC who moved us all over the place and deserved to win.

It’s difficult when you lose three players through injury, especially both centre halves, which I’ve never seen before.

Two leaders who may have been able to sort things out on the pitch.

That’s not an excuse because the lads who came on are more than capable.

But I’ve never known anything like it with injuries.

We get two back available from the bench then lose three.”
