Lincoln United drew their final game of the season 0-0 at Goole AFC in a match where the players had the opportunity to stake a claim in next week’s starting 11 at Chasetown.

Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson gave his thoughts to Peter Hayward about the game.

He said: “I am delighted that the pre-season is done now. It does drag on a little bit.

“It’s good to get it out of the way and start playing for points.

“I was happy with today’s overall defensive performance but we didn’t quite create enough going the other way.

“However I am pleased we kept a clean sheet and that’s what we will be aiming for at Chasetown on Saturday.

“At times I thought we had too many touches on the ball which was a little bit disappointing.

“Yet we came for a clean sheet and looked solid.

“The lads did what was asked of them but they know it is not good enough yet.

“It’s been a steady pre-season and today was a steady performance but we need to do better.”
