Local rider Amy Lacey showed strength and determination when she competed at the Eland Lodge British Eventing 80cm competition recently.
Amy, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, had to ride through the pain barrier on her horse, Jasmine to complete the challenging course.
She said: “It was a very tough day for me and it has taken quite a time to recover.
“As we got back to the lorry to change for the cross country I really hit the wall.
“I honestly felt like I could not go on.”
Despite the setback, Amy continued in the event where she scored 35.8 in the dressage, accrued only four jumping faults and two time penalties in the show jumping and achieved a clear in the cross country section with only 4.8 time faults.
Amy said: “I’m proud of myself for pushing through the wall.”
