INACTIVITY LEADS TO OBESITY AND LAZINESS IN TODAY’S YOUNGSTERS

Dame Kelly Holmes is promoting a new initiative aimed at getting children away from the computer and out on to the playing field.

One of GB’s greatest athletes is afraid that youngsters nowadays spend too much time sitting down and not enough time playing sport and being active.

Dame Kelly has every right to be concerned.

The temptations for young people to watch television all day, play on their tablets or focus on their play stations are difficult to overcome.

The result is obesity, laziness and the probability that their lifespan will be less than their parents.

The solution?

Ensure PE and Sport are put on the same level of importance as English and Maths.

Introduce one hour activity for all children every day in all schools.

Educate parents about the importance of activity and the consequences if their children are inactive.

And a point to remember: today’s lifestyle is tomorrow’s death knell.
