RYA Level 1 course

The RYA level 1 dinghy sailing introduces absolute beginners to the sport of dinghy sailing. The course is for beginners who have done little or no dinghy sailing before. It is the first part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training scheme.

RYA level 2 course

The RYA level 2 course builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from the RYA level 1 course, taking participants to a level where they are competent to sail in light to moderate winds without supervision. On satisfactory completion of the RYA level 2 course, individuals are deemed to have sufficient competence to make use of the club ‘s own boats, weather conditions permitting.

RYA Youth Sail Training

These courses are delivered by the Lincoln and District Sailing Association who are an affiliate of the Hykeham Sailing Club and a RYA Recognised Training Establishment.

Improver Sailing Sessions

For those Club members who have newly qualified with their RYA Level 2 Certificates, one of the most important things is build up on their experience.  To help them do this the Club Calendar will show ‘Improver Sailing’ which is held, on average, every other Saturday afternoon during the season.  These sessions are led by experienced Club sailors who volunteer their time and skills to guide and encourage the less experienced sailor. Safety cover is available and Club boats are used and there are no charges. It is free.    These sessions are open to any Club member and to anyone who simply wants to sail their boat knowing that safety cover is available.
