Welton Overseas Wanderers played their first ever international match in one of the toughest townships in South Africa recently.
The game was played in Manenberg against the Grace Community Soccer Team whose oldest player John Senior is still plying his trade on the wing at the age of 79 years.
According to Dawn, the organiser from the township, the fixture brought privilege, honour and recognition to the players.
She added: ” The game of walking football has inspired and instilled a renewed sense of belonging to our Community.
“The players have expressed new confidence in themselves and I thank the players from Welton for allowing our guys to rediscover themselves again.”
