WHEN DETERMINATION OVERCOMES PAIN

Amy Lacey suffers from MS yet this doesn’t stop her competing every weekend in Eventing, one of the toughest sports you are ever likely to tty.

Yesterday Amy took part in the Belvoir one day event at Ropsley on her horse Jasmine.

She said: “On Friday I was in so much pain I was in tears and could hardly walk.

“It was a bad week for me as my MS flared up again and I had awful leg pain.

“Yet by Sunday I went into the event feeling pretty confident.

“Unfortunately in the Dressage Jasmine’s stable mate was in the next arena so her test was very far from what she was capable of!

“But I was very pleased with the judges’ feedback which said there was a lot to like about this horse.

“Jasmine didn’t warm up too well on the Show Jumping as the ground was really hard.

“But the course itself was on a nice surface and she jumped well with just the last pole down again!

“I had planned for a nice, steady Cross Country on the hard ground but Jasmine had other ideas.

“She motored round and tackled the testing combinations with great confidence.

“We finished in 13th place just outside the placings but only two points from the top ten.

“Considering the problems I have had I was pleased with how I rode.

“I rode to the best of my abilities and Jasmine looked after me.

“I am very proud of that.

“I was really pleased with that and am looking forward to our next event in four weeks’ time.”
