Local rider Amy Lacey competed at the Blankney Pony Club one day event at Norton Disney yesterday and finished in the top half of a field of 29 competitors.

Amy said: “I have wanted to compete there since I fence-judged a couple of years’ ago but I had a broken arm following a fall from my horse Jasmine.

“Yesterday I was very nervous but felt that I had prepared as much as I could.

“The Dressage went well even after a couple of wobbly moments.

“Overall Jasmine tried hard and we came away with a finish of 37.8.

“Most scores were in the high 30s and low 40s so I was pretty happy with our tally.

“The Show Jumping went really well.

“Jasmine listened to me which was great as there were some awkward angles to negotiate.

“Unfortunately we had the final fence down plus two time faults which left us on 41.8.

“I could feel Jasmine was up for the Cross Country as we warmed up.

“It was our first time overĀ a BE standard course and she flew round!!

“We had a clear round which was a really proud moment for both of us.

“She absolutely jumped her heart out for me.

“We finished in 12th place with a score of 41.8, just outside the placings.

“”I’m over the moon with how it all went.

“I am now preparing for our first affiliated event at Shelford at the end of next month.”
