THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

Lincoln United were denied a place in the play-offs after their 2-0 defeat against Spalding United at the Sun Hat Villas yesterday.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Big Sam Wilkinson to get his views on the game.

He said: “We are massively disappointed. The lads gave everything again. We just didn’t really ask enough of Spalding especially in the second half.

“I thought we were the better side in the first half though we didn’t manage to open them up or create anything.

“I think we should have had a penalty. It looked a blatant foul to me.

“That didn’t cost us the game but it was disappointing at the time.

“Late on we threw everything we had at them which left gaps at the back.

“Spalding are a good side. They are big and strong and good at what they do.

“I think we actually got the better of them physically but we lacked the quality to go on and win the game.

“Overall my first year as manager has been really good.

“We will continue to play good football and hopefully attract a few more fans through the gate by doing that.

“All in all it’s been a good season but when you get this close to the play-offs you still want it to go to the final game.”

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE WHITE SIDE OF LIFE
