Colombier treble topples Hull
LINCOLN LADIES 34
HULL LADIES 17
WOMEN’S NATIONAL CHALLENGE MIDLANDS 2 EAST
BY JOSEPH VERNEY
A hat-trick from Lucy Colombier helped Lincoln Ladies bounce back to winning ways in style with a well-deserved 34-17 win over Hull.
Kiko Lee and Lynne Brooker also got their names on the scoresheet with Bob Chapman adding three conversions and a penalty.
It was a great result for Lincoln and helped them to avenge the 31-14 defeat from November’s reverse fixture against the second-placed side.
After the match coach Steve Badmin said: “We played amazingly well and defended superbly but our attack was the most devastating.
“There were some massive tackles put in by all of the ladies and some massive hits from Kat (Turner) and Phoebe (Nicholls) put them on the back foot.
“We did some great running and line breaks, with some big hits from Jess Tolson and some very strong runs from Eve Harper, Lucy and Lynne. Lynne also scored her first try for the ladies and overall it was a superb team performance.”
Captain for the day Bob Chapman added: “Absolutely brilliant result today. I was proud to lead them out on that pitch as captain and for us to have such a great game against Hull.
“To practically reverse the previous scoreline is an amazing achievement. Each and every one of the ladies played with hearts on their sleeves and smiles on their faces.”
