THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

Lincoln United moved up to eighth place in the table after their 3-1 win over Belper Town last night.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson to get his thoughts about the match.

He said: “I was delighted with the result.

“We knew we had to win the game to give us any sort of chance to challenge for a play-off place.

“We asked the players for more energy and to be busy and bright.

“They responded in a brilliant manner.

“The first half showed where we want to be in terms of tempo and energy.

“I was also pleased with our passing especially in the final third.

“I thought we looked a threat throughout the first half but I was also pleased with how we defended as a team.

“After the break we weren’t good enough in possession but defended pretty well.

“In fairness to Belper they had a right go but we deserved the win.

“We must now focus on Carlton Town on Saturday which will be a totally different game.

“It won’t be a nice football match like last night.

“It will be a physical battle which we must win before we can play any football.

“We will be warning the players about that.”

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE WHITE SIDE OF LIFE
