Lincoln United’s 3-1 win over Belper Town last night rocketed them up to eighth place in the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League.
The result means Big Sam Wilkinson’s men are now enjoying an unbeaten run of six matches and become the form team of the division.
The Whites overwhelmed the visitors in a first half that saw a trademark Danny Brooks’ 25 yard screamer break the net on the half hour.
Ten minutes’ later Jack McGovern headed home his 51st career goal for the Ashby Avenue outfit following brilliant work down the right from Luke Hornsey.
Conner Robinson added a third seconds before the break.
After the interval, Belper decided to make a game of it and pulled back a deserved goal.
However, the Whites’ defence stood firm under new captain Sean Wright whose leadership skills developed as the game went on.
Lowly Carlton Town are the visitors on Saturday. Three points for the Whites would consolidate their top-ten position in the table.
