SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson to get his views on yesterday’s 2-0 victory by Lincoln United over Market Drayton Town.

He said: “Yesterday was all about grit and determination in the really poor conditions.

“It was never going to be pretty on a heavy pitch but we still managed some touches of real quality.

“We dominated the whole game and apart from the one chance they had at 0-0 when Jake Turner pulled off a very good save, they never really threatened us.

“We defended as a team and were excellent at keeping our shape. This was one thing we asked the lads to do before the game.

“We thoroughly deserved our clean sheet.

“In tricky conditions we showed lots of quality in the final third and created a lot of chances.

“The second goal from Jack McGovern was one of real class. He took the ball from the edge of the box and rounded off a terrific day for him by doubling our lead.

“Jack was excellent all game.

“Conner Robinson scored another goal and he has formed a great relationship with Jack up front.

“The pair of them were a threat all game and showed glimpses of what a great partnership they are going to make.

“It was another good team performance and everyone played a big part in getting the result.

“We will now focus on Stamford on Tuesday in what will be a very tough game.

“They will want revenge over us as we have beaten them three times already this season.

“However we are full of confidence and aim to go there and get a result.”
