Chelsea are favourites to win the Premiership for two very good reasons.
First of all their team is packed with world-class players.
Secondly they have three naturally left-footed stars in Courtois, Alonso and Matic who add balance to the team.
That’s why I was pleased to hear Danny Cowley announce that recent acquisition, Billy Knott is left-footed.
This doubles the Imps’ quota of left-sided players as Billy joins Sam Habergham as part of this exclusive group.
There is a dearth of left-footers at all levels of football.
If any youngster is hoping to make the grade a sound left foot will give him a huge advantage.
Look at Lincoln-born Sam Clucas who has established himself as a key member of Premiership outfit Hull City.
A natural ball-player with a sweet left foot.
Ryan Giggs, Maradona and Eddie Gray were all natural left-footers but I really have to rack my brains to name many others.
Let’s be thankful that Sam Habergham is capable of playing 60 games a season.
Let’s hope Billy Knott will add balance to a side that is on course for the ‘double’ this season.
