One outstanding feature of Tuesday’s match against Ipswich Town was the way central defenders Sean Raggett and Luke Waterfall dominated every ball that came towards them in the air.

These two are now well-established at the heart of the Imps’ defence.

SportsLinc caught up with Sean Raggett earlier today and asked him about the memorable win over the Tractor Boys.

He said: “I think we got our tactics spot on. We pressed them really high and didn’t give them the opportunity to play out.

“That’s why I think a lot of balls kept going long towards Luke and me.”

Asked about training and specific tactics Sean said: “The more skills you do the more things become second nature.

“We do lots of defensive headers and halfway line defending.

” I think the way we have improved this season is down to the repetition of skills training.”

Sean epitomises the work ethic that Danny and Nicky Cowley have instilled into all the players.

Judging by how young men like Sean and his team mates perform, it is certainly paying off.
