When Whites’ skipper Michael Jacklin stroked a harmless looking back pass to his keeper everyone was expecting the ball to be blasted back into the opposition half.

Not so.

Memories of Gary Neville’s similar pass back to England keeper Paul Robinson came flashing back as the ball bobbled, picked up speed and ended up in the Lincoln United net.

That goal was the only difference between two sides who battled things out on a pitch which made good football nigh on impossible.

Both sides had chances in a match which saw goal line clearances and shots coming back off the woodwork.

The 1-0 win for the Tulips makes it four in a row for Dave Frecklington’s men.

The loss was the Whites second on the spin.

The football wasn’t pretty today but at least the Boxing Day crowd were treated to a display of guts and determination by two very good outfits.
