What’s it like being part of a team that hasn’t lost since September?

SportsLinc caught up with young Imps’ midfielder Elliott Whitehouse to get his thoughts on the subject.

Q1. How long does it take to recover physically and mentally after a game like that against Tranmere?

A1. “Physically a bit longer than mentally. We were all over the moon coming into the changing room. All buzzing. Then within a matter of half an hour to 45 minutes we focused on the big cup game coming up tonight. We started to channel our energy into that.”

Q2. What mind-set do you have as a group of players?

A2. “Tranmere was a massive game and everyone could see what it meant to us when we went over to the fans to celebrate.

We just want to keep making a statement. Coming to Sincil Bank you have got to bring everything and more with you.

Within an hour of the Tranmere game our minds were set on getting a good run in the cup and getting to Wembley.

That’s everyone’s focus.”

Q3. How’s your fitness?

A3. I’d like to think that my fitness is good. I’ve always been naturally athletic.

Away from games you have also got to look after yourself regarding diet, hydration, muscle soreness and recovery.

“You have to do the best you can to get ready for the next game.”

Q4. How has your game developed in the short time you have been here?

A4. “When I first came I said I could play in a number of positions. The Gaffer has chosen me to play in central midfield now so I have had to adapt my play for that role. He still wants me to go forward and so I will pick the right time to do that.

“I am learning every day. I’m always speaking to the Gaffer about things. All the advice I receive is welcome. I always want to learn.

Good luck tonight Elliott.
