THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

A fine 2-0 win over Chasetown FC last night moved Lincoln United up to 13th in the table with games in hand over most of the teams above them.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Big Sam Wilkinson to gets his thoughts on the match.

He said: “It was great to get the three points although I wasn’t too happy with our performance.

“But if you’re not playing at your best and still win then that’s got to be good.

“We didn’t play with the tempo we have been doing over the last four games and we made it a little bit too easy for them in the first half to pass the ball and get a foothold on the game.

“We addressed that at half-time and were the better side after the break and deserved to win.

“The pleasing thing is that the back five were outstanding and solid all night.

“Defenders always have to be at their best which ours have been consistently since we have been on this run. They have been really good.

“We kept a clean sheet but we still need to get back to the standards we set a few weeks’ ago.

“We travel to Rugby on Saturday who have picked up of late and so it won’t be an easy game.

“It’s a nice surface to play on and a nice ground to play at.

“I fully expect us to get the result as long as we play with more of the tempo we have been doing.”

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE WHITE SIDE OF LIFE
