ENFORCED BREAK HAS ITS ADVANTAGES

Lincoln City have no game at the weekend through no fault of their own.

Their FA Trophy tie has been postponed whilst an FA investigation is taking place into Shaw Lane’s qualifying tie against Nantwich Town.

What does a team do when a match is postponed? Answer: rest.

However the very word ‘rest’ tends to make those of us who believe in the work ethic first instigated by the Victorians rather guilty.

Yet in the case of the Imps I would suggest a rest and re-charging of the batteries could not have come at a better time.

We are midway through a season therefore the players are due a break.

There is a big game against table-toppers Tranmere Rovers on Saturday week so more preparation time can be given over to that.

Finally Jamie McCombe will be glad to rest his weary legs after his heroics on Monday following his first competitive outing in weeks.

I would say the goings-on at Shaw Lane are a blessing in disguise for Danny Cowley’s men although I am sure Tranmere Rovers fans would tend to disagree with that!
