THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

Lincoln United travelled to Bedworth United yesterday and came away with all three points after a fineĀ 4-1 win.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson who told us about the game.

He said: “It was a brilliant result and performance.

“It wasn’t pretty at times. In fact it was a day to roll your sleeves up and dig in.

“We were getting so much joy getting the ball forward quickly to our strikers who caused Bedworth so many problems and were excellent on the day.

“It was tough defending their long balls as they looked to hit their big centre forward at every opportunity.

“He caused us a few problems and was a threat all game.

“However I thought we defended very well and our back four along with keeper Jake Turner were excellent and very consistent.

“Jake made a very good save at a crucial point in the game and had they scored we would have had our backs to the wall.

“The first half was quite even but we went in 2-1 up and we were pleased with that score-line although we all knew we weren’t at our best.

“We dominated the second half for long spells and deserved our win.

“We have only lost one of our last 10 games and now we must put a good run together in the league and push up the table.”
