Lincoln United consolidated their place in the top five of the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League after demolishing Newcastle Town 4-0 at home on Saturday.

With only three matches of the campaign left the chance of being in the play-offs remains in the hands of the Whites.

As a result there is an air of excitement at the Sun Hat Villas stadium as local supporters look forward to the remaining games with optimism and hope.

Boss Dave Frecklington said:” There is definitely a great atmosphere at the club. There is a feeling that something is happening.

“Three years ago we were battling against relegation. Now we are fifth in the league.

“We will stay focused.

“Everyone is enjoying the situation. The players know they may never be involved in anything like this again.

“It’s been a long season and a hard slog but I am proud of the lads especially after winning their last two tough fixtures.

“I still think it will go down to the wire.”

Last Tuesday the Whites travelled to Leek Town and pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win after playing with ten men for 85 minutes of the game.

On Saturday Dave Frecklington’s men annihilated Newcastle Town 4-0.

Frecklington said: “On Saturday everything went to plan. We set out to frustrate Newcastle and it worked.

“We were solid and played some quality football.

“It was a very good performance against a very good side.

“We outfought them and were too strong for them.”
