SportsLinc caught up with Imps’ boss Danny Cowley recently and asked the following question:
Do your players feel confident about being up there with the other big teams in the league?
“If you’re not confident in the run that we’ve been on then you’ll never be confident.
“Confidence for me is an important part of football.
“Players play well when they are confident.
“For me real confidence is not getting too high when you do well and not too low when things are going against you.
“It’s that ability to be balanced and level-headed that is important.
“I’ve seen a lot of people who get over-confident when they do well and under-confident when they do badly.
“For us we have got a good group of players. We’ve got experienced players. We’ve got a nice blend of boys who are young and on their way up and others who have been there, seen it and done it.
“If you look at the group there’s a lot of them who have been used to winning things and those who haven’t are really hungry to win things. I like the blend we’ve got in the group.
“You look at some of the big clubs financially and it’s hard for us to compete in that area.
“But football is played between the paint and we are confident in ourselves.
“We are moving forward as a group.
“We are still a long way from where we want to be but we are certainly making strides.
“When you are in the moment the key to all successful teams is to extend that moment and that’s what we are trying to do.”
