THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM WILKINSON

Lincoln United suffered their second successive defeat in four days when they went down 5-2 to table-topping Shaw Lane last night in the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League.

Whites’ boss Big Sam Wilkinson talked to SportsLinc about the result.

He said: “We started the game ok and went 1-0 up .

“Then we sat off, didn’t get tight and showed them too much respect.

“We didn’t win enough tackles or headers. We just didn’t win the battle.

“When we did get the ball we gave it away too cheaply.

“We never asked any questions of their defence.

“We must be braver in defending and in possession.

“The second half was much better and we had a good reaction from the players.

“We were braver in and out of possession and got back into the game and we had a great chance to equalise.

“We huffed and puffed after that chance.

“We pushed men forward but then got caught on the counter for the fourth and fifth goals.

“Overall we were not good enough all over the pitch.

We must learn very quickly.”
