‘Women in Sport Week’ runs from today until Sunday and is aimed at providing opportunities to raise awareness and increase the profile of women’s sport.
The week-long event highlights women’s contributions to sport at all levels from playing, training, coaching and officiating.
Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Girls’ member Zoe Mills spoke to SportsLinc about her team’s involvement.
She said: “The Lincolnshire Bombers are passionate about promoting the grass roots sport of Roller Derby and in particular its all-inclusive nature which celebrates the strength of all women.
“The Bombers will be getting involved in promoting women’s sport via a number of different sessions.
“These include our regular Tuesday night training and our customised Roller Derby-specific strength and conditioning training night at Custom Fitness gym on Wednesday.
“We have a mixed training session with our Roller Derby brothers on Friday and a friendly game against Roller Derby Leicester on Saturday.
“This all culminates in a special open training session at the Yarborough Leisure Centre on Sunday starting at 12.30pm.
“It’s an ideal opportunity to watch the Bombers train, find out more about this exciting sport and hopefully get inspired!”
