FOOTBALL: FA CUP EXCITEMENT MOUNTING AT THE SUN HAT VILLAS

The Emirates FA Cup is the oldest football club competition in the world.

This Saturday Lincoln United will have the chance to progress to the fourth qualifying round of this famous tournament.

The Whites host Handsworth Parramore who are one league below but who will be no pushovers for Sam Wilkinson’s men.

However after beating Nuneaton Town away in the previous round the Ashby Avenue outfit must be considered favourites to progress.

This is especially so as they are on an unbeaten run of five games in all competitions.

So why are the Whites enjoying such a good run of form?

I would put it down to a number of factors.

First of all they have a very sound management team in the form of Sam Wilkinson, Chris Hall and coach Stuart  Reddington.

Big Sam has brought an air of quiet authority into the club and as a former player and assistant manager he knows the set-up inside out.

What’s more the players trust and respect him.

Secondly the players have developed a tremendous team spirit and every one of them is proud to wear the Lincoln United shirt.

Finally they have a striker in Jack McGovern who is scoring goals for fun.

Jack is deadly in the box. He can blast the ball with either foot and guide his headers beyond the reach of goalkeepers.

Teams need a player who can hit at least 20 goals a season. McGovern has already chalked up eight.

I expect him to make it double figures this Saturday.

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE WHITE SIDE OF LIFE.
