VICTORY OVER SHEFFIELD: THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

Lincoln United made it five wins on the bounce in all competitions after beating Sheffield 2-1 at the Sun Hat Villas last night.

The win rocketed the Whites up to tenth place in the table with games in hand over most of the teams above them.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson and asked him his thoughts on the match.

He said: “It was another dominant performance, another victory.

“We thoroughly deserved another three points.

“That makes it five wins in a row and there’s still a lot more room for improvement.

“We started the game brightly and should have gone 1-0 up when Jack McGovern should have done better.

“We then took our foot off the gas and became too comfortable, thinking it was going to be easy.

“A penalty miss from us knocked us back a little bit and then sloppy defending led us to giving a penalty away just before the break.

“We got into the players at half time and told them it wasn’t good enough.

“They responded brilliantly. We turned them round better and created lots of chances.

“Jack McGovern got us back in the game with a well-taken free kick.

“He then got us the winner after great work from Kallum Smith who beat five players to put it on Jack’s head for his eighth goal of the season.

“After that we were always in control apart from a couple of set pieces when they put it in our box which we defended them well.

“The back four and Mario in goal were excellent again.”

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE.
