WHITES’ VICTORY: THE THOUGHTS OF BIG SAM

Lincoln United won their second league match of the season over a stubborn Rugby Town outfit at the Sun Hat Villas yesterday.

Kallum Smith scored the game’s only goal in the 84th minute which gave the home side all three points and moved them up to 13th in the table.

SportsLinc spoke exclusively to Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson about the game.

He said: “It’s our fourth win on the spin so we are delighted with the three points and a clean sheet.

“But we’re not really happy with the performance and the players know they must do better.

“I can’t fault their effort, work-rate and the tempo they play at and every player worked so hard.

“It’s just our quality we need to improve slightly.

“But you can’t be at your best every game and the pleasing thing is we won the game without being anywhere near our best.

“Credit to the players for that.

“We totally dominated the game and thoroughly deserved our win.

“We changed our shape and threw everything at them.

“Kallum Smith deserved his goal. He was brilliant all game.

“We now have to focus on Tuesday and look for another big three points.”

Next up Sheffield at home Tuesday 27th September kick off 7.45pm
