Lincoln United host Rugby Town tomorrow in the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League full of confidence after their heroic 2-1 win over Nuneaton in last weekend’s Emirates FA Cup second round qualifying tie.
The Whites have won only one league game this season though they have reached the final of the Lincolnshire FA Senior Cup and the third round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup.
SportsLinc caught up with boss Sam Wilkinson and asked about the importance of tomorrow’s fixture.
He said: “The League is our bread and butter. We spoke to the lads about the need to get some points on the board.
“If you have a good cup run you can play a lot of games in a short space of time and it’s always harder playing catch-up.
“We need to start putting points on the board now rather than in two or three months’ time.
“Rugby have just lost their manager. He resigned last week so they’ve got a new manager coming in.
“You know what can happen then. The players all want to play for the new ‘Gaffer’.
“So Rugby are going to give it everything.
“However the form we are in I fully expect us to be at it tomorrow and hopefully make sure we can kick-on.
“That’s what we hope to do.
“It would be nice to keep a clean sheet as we have defended really well.”
Everyone at SportsLinc wishes Sam and the boys all the very best against Rugby tomorrow.
