RUNNING: POUNDING THE PAVEMENTS FOR A WEEK

Have you ever run all 13.1 miles of a half marathon? Believe me it’s tough.

Now contemplate running seven half marathons in seven days and you will probably think it is either the first step to insanity or some method of training for the next Olympics.

Lincoln-born Steven White is certainly not mad nor is he a future Olympian.

Steve and a group of friends start the first of their seven half marathons on Monday when they set off from Gainsborough and head for RAF Scampton.

The rest of the week is taken up by daily runs that take in the University of Lincoln, Doddington Hall, The Lincolnshire Life Museum, the Bomber Command Memorial, Metheringham Airfield visitor centre, the 617 Squadron Memorial Centre and finally Hartsholme Country Park.

Steven’s marathon effort culminates at the Lincolnshire Showground on Sunday 2nd October when he and his friends line up for the start of the Lincoln Half Marathon.

Steven told SportsLinc: “We have been training as a group and running together over the last six weeks.

“As well as raising the awareness of the Lincoln Half Marathon we are striving to achieve our target of £5,00 towards the Ethan Maull Foundation.

“We can’t think of anything better to raise money for and we are really looking forward to it.”
