Lincoln City put up a brave show against Tranmere Rovers but a late goal from the home side made the final score 3-2 and effectively put an end to any lingering hopes the Imps had of making the play-offs.

Tranmere went ahead on 38 minutes through a penalty which lead to the sending off of Lincoln’s Wood.

An equaliser by George Maris three minutes later was wiped out when Tranmere scored on the stroke of half time.

Robbie McDaid levelled the score after 72 minutes but the home side took the lead in the 87th minute and managed to cling on to it.

The Imps have a chance to return to winning way on Easter Monday when they welcome Gateshead to Sincil Bank.
