Lincoln United achieved their first win of the campaign when they overcame a very strong Bedworth United outfit 2-1 at the Sun Hat Villas yesterday.
Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson told SportsLinc: “It was a very good, competitive game and Bedworth were a really good side.
“Their strikers were a real handful and tested our back four from minute one.
“They started the better team and Mario Ziccardi kept us in the game with three top-class saves.
“We then got on top and it was their keeper who kept them in it.
“Our attacking play was breathtaking at times with Sam Mullarkey and Jack McGovern a constant threat.
“We looked like scoring every time we went forward but then we got sloppy and gave away a free kick just before the break.
“They had a bit of luck but scored and so went into half-time 1-0 up.
“The second half was a completely different story and we dominated the game although they did look dangerous on the break.
“It was only a matter of time until we equalised and then eventually we got a deserved winner.
“Their keeper kept them in it making six or seven great saves.
“It was a great response from the lads to come from a goal behind.
“Togetherness and team spirit are words over-used in football in my opinion and they both played a part.
“But it was the tempo we played at in the second half and more important the quality we showed throughout the game that got us the three points we really needed and thoroughly deserved.”
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE WHITE SIDE OF LIFE.
