Lincoln United certainly put to one side their recent disappointing league form and turned in a stunning performance at the Sun Hat Villas stadium yesterday when they  hammered Dunkirk FC 6-1 in the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The win secures the Whites £3,00 from the FA as a reward for reaching the second preliminary round, the draw for which takes place tomorrow.

SportsLinc caught up with Whites’ Boss Sam Wilkinson for his thoughts.

He said: “From minute one right up until the last kick of the match I thought the lads were excellent.

“Everything we asked of them they gave us and more.

“We asked for a higher tempo and for them to work harder than the opposition.

“We also asked for our defence to squeeze out to give the midfield a better chance to get tight and win the battle which they did very well.

“We asked them for lots of crosses in the box and they did it all.

“We did the basics right. We didn’t try to complicate the game.

“Because we got the basics right the football followed and we played some really good stuff and finished very well.

“A great result for the club and hopefully that will give us the confidence to start winning games in the league.

” If we show the same commitment to work as hard as a team we will start winning games.”
