The mother and daughter combination of Wendy Dunham and Amy Wright produced top five places in the Caistor One Day Event yesterday.
Wendy achieved third spot in a field of 15 riders following magnificent clear rounds in the show jumping and cross-country although her horse Cruise was, in Wendy’s words “a bit naughty and silly” in the dressage.
Meanwhile daughter Amy came fourth in her class of 25 competitors after a good dressage, a clear in the cross-country and only one fence down in the show jumping.
Wendy said: “Both Cruise and Jasmine, Amy’s horse, took a little time to settle down.
“They are field companions and don’t like being separated.
“However, I was really pleased with Cruise considering it was his first one day event.
“Amy did really well. She had to use all her skills as a rider because Jasmine didn’t make things easy for her.
“Our instructor Emma Elliot put things in place for us.
“She is the driving force behind us and gives both Amy and myself the necessary confidence to compete at this level as we both tend to get nervous.
“She knows when to back off a little and when to push us.”
