Lincoln City maintained their winning streak this afternoon after hammering title-contenders Gateshead 3-0 at Sincil Bank.
As usual, Danny Cowley’s men were first out of the starting blocks and sprinted into a 1-0 in the sixth minute when Sean Ragget headed past the Gateshead keeper from a beautifully chipped ball by Alex Woodyard.
The visitors had two excellent first-half chances but failed with both.
Meanwhile Lincoln maintained the pressure with the battling Wood and sure-footed Woodyard controlling midfield.
After the break Danny Cowley’s men once again produced a dazzling start and it was that man Woodyard who threaded through a magnificent pass for Nathan Arnold to sweep round the advancing keeper and slot the ball home to make it 2-0.
The crowd of 3,687 were treated to a party-piece by Adam Marriot late on with a deft left-footer that put the result beyond doubt.
A 3-0 win was more than enough to put a broad smile on each home supporter’s face who will now relish the trip to Torquay with the belief that their team can bring back all three points.
