It’s a busy weekend coming up at most football clubs with matches being played on Saturday and Monday.
I went down to Sincil Bank the other day and chatted with manager Danny Cowley to ask him how he prepared his players for two games in 48 hours.
He said: “This week is clear and it gives us a chance to catch our breath.
“It is a very focused week where we aim to improve everyone’s performance.
“We did some fitness testing pre-season and now we can find out exactly where the players are physically.
“We play high-energy, hyper-mobile games so all our players have got to be physically fit.
“It’s always good to test them to see exactly where they are at.
“The week will be spent ensuring we are fully prepared for the games at Macclesfield on Saturday and Gateshead here on Monday.”
I have to say I am extremely impressed with the way Danny and his brother Nicky go about their work.
They analyse, prepare and work very long hours for the success they aim to bring to the club.
The players and staff have taken on board what they are striving to achieve and my message to all Imps’ fans is this: “Your club is in very good hands.”
