It was recently revealed that each of the 67 Olympic medals won by a British athlete in Rio cost the taxpayer around four million pounds.
Since 2012 the Government and National Lottery have awarded £274 million to UK Sport to distribute to athletes and Olympic sports.
Around £72 million is being channelled into Paralympic Sports which take place in two weeks’ time in Rio.
The question asked is ‘Would this total of £346 million be better spent on things other than elite sport’?
