Lincoln United travelled to Basford last night only 48 hours after a tough home draw against Leek Town but came away with a valuable point in what turned out to be a tight encounter.
The home side took the lead on 27 minutes when a Billy Bennett free-kick found the top corner of the net.
Ten minutes later Whites’ striker Gary King levelled the score with a clinical strike after good build-up play down the left.
Whites’ boss Sam Wilkinson said: “It was a very tough game after Saturday’s quick turn-around and I thought it was a big ask for the players.
“We didn’t start well and Basford pinned us back. We couldn’t get out but we did defend well.
“We came back into the game and deserved our equaliser. We were much better in the second half.
“It was a very well-earned point away from home.
“We showed our togetherness and quality.
“I am happy with the point but there’s still a lot more to come.”
