After two successive victories in the National League Lincoln City were brought tumbling back down to earth by newcomers Sutton United who beat Danny Cowley’s men 3-1 in front of a crowd of over 3,000 expectant home supporters this afternoon.
Matt Rhead limped off early on and Bradley Wood saw red following a clash with Sutton’s Deacon.
Set-piece efforts by the visitors presented them with two goals before a counter-attack late on made it three.
Sam Habergham hit a magnificent lob from 45 yards to bring his team back into the game but it was not enough as Sutton claimed the scalp of the league leaders.
No doubt Danny and Nicky will be focusing on defending set-pieces between now and the next match which is away at Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday evening.
