Sportslinc caught up with Dean Christopher today at the Lincoln Snooker Club and asked him about the World Snooker coaching qualification he recently gained and how he can best use it.
He said: “Myself and Matt Lee, a fellow snooker player are aiming to generate more interest in the game especially at grass roots level and especially to youngsters.
“We want to provide the opportunities for people to get the same enjoyment out of the game as we do.
“Snooker is very mentally challenging and players have to deal with issues such as a dip in form and setbacks in matches.
“There are so many twists and turns in a game and it’s how you deal with them mentally that is one of the key attributes of a snooker player.
” Temperaments can be managed especially in younger players.
“We try to instill the correct temperament into players to give them the foundations to have a decent mental approach to the game.”
You can hear the rest of that interview with Dean on Mix and Match next Tuesday between 7-8 pm on Siren 107.3 FM or sirenonline.co.uk
